Publication policies

Copyright Policy

  • Authors of articles published in AHSE journals retain the copyright of their articles, with first publication rights granted to the journal/publisher.
  • Authors will retain broad re-use, republish, archive, and distribute rights to their article content for their future publications.
  • Authors shall permit the publisher to apply a DOI to their articles and to archive them in databases and indexes such as EBSCO, DOAJ, and ProQuest.

Open-access Policy

We follow the Gold Open Access way in journal publishing. To maintain the journal operation, this journal has an Article Publishing Charge (APC), which needs to be met by the authors, or their institution or funders. This ensures your article will be immediately and permanently free to access for readers on the publisher’s website.

All articles published are open-access articles distributed under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution license.

Submission Policy

Submission of an article to AHSE journals implies that:

  • The work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, academic thesis or registered report).
  • The work is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • The work’s publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the authorities responsible where the work was carried out.

However, we accept submissions to the following:

  • The work has previously appeared on preprint servers (for example: arXiv, bioRxiv, Nature Precedings, Philica, Social Science Research Network, and Vixra).
  • The work has previously been presented at conferences.
  • The works has previously appeared in other “non-journal” venues (for example: blogs or posters).

Preprint Citation

Authors are responsible for updating the archived preprint with the journal reference, including the DOI and a link to the published version of the article on the journal website.

Plagiarism Policy

The Association for Health Sciences and Education (AHSE) is a member of Crossref plagiarism detection initiative. Submitted manuscripts are checked by the CrossCheck database to avoid publication misconduct. The publisher and journals have a zero-tolerance plagiarism policy. All submissions will be checked by iThenticate before being sent to reviewers.

AI Usage Policy

  • Authors are permitted to utilize AI tools as an assisted improvement for readability and style, which may include wording and formatting changes to the texts, to ensure that the texts are free of errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation and tone.
  • Authors should disclose in their manuscript the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the published work. This disclosure should detail the specific AI tool(s) employed and the extent of their contribution to the work.
  • Authors retain sole responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all submitted content, and the work does not infringe third party rights.
  • AI tools should not be listed as an author or co-author on the manuscript.

Journals reserve the right to reject submissions where AI usage has not been appropriately disclosed or where such usage has been deemed inappropriate.

Waiver Policy

An article processing charge will be requested for each accepted article to help the open-access journals cover the operational expenses.

The waiver policy for the article processing charge is different from journal to journal. To request a waiver, kindly send an application to editor@jhaweb.org. Waiver application should contain the manuscript number and state the reason for requesting a waiver.

Refund Policy

We implement a reasonable refund policy based on the publishing status.

  • Fully refund: online version is unpublished
  • Half refund: online version is published and print version is unpublished
  • No refund: both the online and print version are published
